Lockets developed out of talisman jewelry worn to ward of evil spirits. They came to signify: love, honor, a pledge of allegiance, a symbol of mourning, a commitment or a window to the past. Lockets have been used to carry: powder, miniature portraits, ashes, herbal remedies, poison and perfume-soaked fabric. Locket measures .5" and hangs on 20" chain, 14k gold over brass chain. Designed and assembled in Sonoma, California.
