When strange lights appear in the sky, the dogs start barking at nothing, or you get the distinct feeling that something with a 10-foot wingspan is watching over you… it never hurts to have Mothman on your side.

Inspired by the legendary cryptid of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, our St. Mothman Prayer Candle reimagines the infamous winged visitor as the Patron Saint of the Unexplained — Witness. Protector. Guide.

Mothman entered West Virginia folklore in 1966, when residents around Point Pleasant began reporting encounters with a mysterious, towering winged figure with glowing red eyes. Sightings continued in the months leading up to the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge in December 1967, forever linking Mothman with the town and inspiring one of Appalachia’s most enduring legends.

Was he an omen? A warning? A supernatural guardian desperately trying to tell everyone that something wasn’t right?

We prefer the third option.

Designed by our owner, Meg — a native West Virginian and lifelong lover of cryptid lore — this decorative prayer candle pays tribute to one of the Mountain State’s strangest and most beloved legends. Display him somewhere he can keep watch over your home, ward off unexplained phenomena, and hopefully give you a heads-up before any impending bridge-related catastrophes.

Details: Tall glass prayer-style candle with original St. Mothman artwork featuring nods to Point Pleasant and West Virginia lore. Designed by Meg of Reverie Goods & Gifts.

IMPORTANT: DECORATIVE USE ONLY. DO NOT LIGHT.
This candle is intended as a decorative art piece. Burning the candle may heat the glass and damage the exterior artwork, so please allow St. Mothman to provide his supernatural protection without setting him on fire.

Protective powers, prophetic warnings, glowing red eyes in the darkness, and cryptid visitations are not guaranteed.
